Answering a query if these IPR issues would come in way of foreign investments into India, Francis Gurry, Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organisation said although IPR was an extremely important consideration for any investor, the system was evolving in India.
The Indian intellectual property rights (IPR) regime has been a cause of concern for foreign investors especially in the pharma sector.
However, with the govt announcing programmes like 'Make in India,' convincing prospective investors about Indian IPR regime will be a big challenge for the new government.
Answering a query if these IPR issues would come in way of foreign investments into India, Francis Gurry, Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organisation said although IPR was an extremely important consideration for any investor, the system was evolving in India.
According to him, in manufacturing there is lot of development visible in the area of advanced manufacturing robotics. "Manufacturing will continue to become more and more technology intensive and as it becomes so, IPR will become more important to the process," he added.
