The Prime Minister yesterday talked about plans to build 100 smart cities in the country to generate employment while noting that urbanisation should be treated as an opportunity rather than a problem.
In January, Modi had promised to develop the smart cities as part of his vision for the country. Schneider Electric also intends to expand its footprint in the north-eastern part of India, looking at business
potential in areas such as power transmission and utility products.
The company employs over 18,000 employees across 40 cities in the country.
