That apart, Chawla has informed the advisory group that the matter in respect of alleged anti-competitive practices by certain car manufacturers "is also at a final stage".
During the meeting, social activist Rohini Nilekani - who is part of the EPAG - advised CCI to check competition issues in unregulated areas such as sand mining.
The suggestion comes at a time when suspension of Durga Nagpal, an IAS officer, who led the crackdown on sand mining mafia in Uttar Pradesh, is making headlines.
Meanwhile, Chawla told the advisory panel that "there has been a reasonable increase in the number of cases filed before CCI in the recent past".
According to him, 70 cases have been filed in the first seven months of 2013 as against 47 cases in the same period last year "marking an increase of around 50 percent".
The meeting was attended by HDFC chairman Deepak Parekh, former CAG VN Kaul and former CERC chairman SL Rao, among others.
