Tata Motors launches new showroom format

Tata Motors launched a new format of passenger car showrooms and said it will upgrade up to five sales points across the country by March to the new format. "We plan to upgrade 4-5 more such showrooms in the metros in this quarter," passenger vehicles business unit's president Ranjit Yadav told reporters on the sidelines of event to launch the first showroom in the new format.

Among other things, such showrooms will have a video wall, wi-fi capable lounges, merchandising of accessories and lifestyle products, a cafe and play areas for kids. "Going forward, we will take this concept to 10-20 cities including tier-II and tier III centres." Yadav, however, did not reveal the investment that would go down into the upgradation but maintained that a significant investment has been made in the upgradation of the showroom in central Mumbai.

Tata Motors, which produces the Indica brand of hatchbacks, Indigo sedans and the entry level car Nano, has 1,000 sales points and 900 service points in the country at present.
