Essar group promoters move HC against charges in 2G case

More than five months after a special CBI court framed charges against them in a case arising out of the probe into the 2G Spectrum allocation scam, Essar Group promoters Ravi and Anshuman Ruia today moved the Delhi High Court against the trial court's order.

Justice A K Pathak is likely to hear their plea, which has also challenged the chargesheet filed by the CBI against them, tomorrow.

On May 25, the CBI court had framed charges against the Ruias and Essar Teleholdings Ltd and also Essar Group director (Strategy and Planning) Vikas Saraf.

Besides, Ruias, Essar Teleholdings Ltd, the court had also framed charges against companies - Loop Telecom Pvt Ltd, Loop Mobile India Ltd and their promoters Kiran Khaitan and her husband I P Khaitan under section 120 B read with 420 IPC.

The Essar has denied the CBI allegations.
