The taxman's petition had sought to put additional riders on sale of the Chennai Plant.

In the ongoing dispute between Nokia and the taxman, the I-T department has withdrawn its petition from the Supreme Court.

The taxman's petition had sought to put additional riders on sale of the Chennai Plant. Nokia Counsel, Vikas Srivastava, argued vociferously that the Chennai manufacturing facility was no longer a part of the multi-billion-dollar deal with Microsoft.

Nokia argued that assets and shares were already under attachment and that any future plans to sell the Chennai facility would be subject to HC clearance. The apex court recorded in its order that Nokia shall not proceed with selling the Chennai plant without taking permission from the HC and allowed the taxman to withdraw its plea.

The original tax demand is still pending before the Delhi HC.
