Bullish on India; disappointed by few tech startups: Adobe

The makers of photoshop, US tech company Adobe embarked on a massive transformation drive in 2013 moving to a subscription model for its creative services. The company's global CEO, Shantanu Narayen says Adobe has had an "outstanding" 2013 beating the street and its own expectations.

Betting big on its new digital marketing business, Adobe is bullish on India and will be expanding operations here including setting up new campuses in Noida and Bangalore. But the tech specialist is not going shopping in India anytime soon and Narayen laments the lack of product startups in the Indian tech ecosystem.

Narayen is a little disappointed by the number of software product companies in tech space in India. "You know you are successful when one acquisition doesn't make headlines, when it becomes part of what's customary and normal," he adds.

He further adds that there has been a lot of success in services and hardware areas and there is no question that internet and applications will be next. "It is just a maturity issue and will happen but it hasn't happened to the level that I would have expected thus far," he adds.
