The Tata Group's new chairman Cyrus Mistry on Thursday called on commerce and industry minister Anand Sharma. Mistry, who took over the reins of the over USD100-billion salt-to-software conglomerate after Ratan Tata retired on December 28 on turning 75, had a one-on-one meeting with the minister for about 20 minutes. While the agenda of the meeting could not be ascertained, officials in the ministry described the meeting as a courtesy call by the 44-year-old head of the diversified group.
Tata had 'introduced' Mistry to Sharma on December 22, 2011, a month after the group announced his successor. Earlier in January, Mistry had met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, his first after becoming the chief of the Tata group.
