Luxury car maker Audi is confident it will sell more that 1.7 million units globally this year, despite a slowdown in emerging markets.
A Reuters report quoted Global CEO Rupert Stadler saying developed markets such as the US are driving sales while emerging markets remain under pressure. Specifically on India, Stadler is reported to have said he expected business to recover eventually, but the process may take longer than earlier anticipated.
Stadler's statements contradict the optimism reflected by Audi's India head. In an August interview, Audi India CEO Joe King said FY15 would be the "best year" even as it aims at double-digit sales growth in the Indian market. Audi sold 10,126 units in FY14.
